From the website: 10 additive noise sources (sampled at 8 kHz) which can be used to artificially degrade speech. Noise sources include: Aircraft Cockpit, Automobile Highway, Helicopter Fly-by, Large City, City Rain, Large Crowd, PS-2 Cooling Fan, Sun Cooling Fan, Flat Communication, and White Gaussian Noise. Files are in 16-bit (short), linear, headerless format.
