Following the student session on career opportunities held at last year's Interspeech-ICSLP conference in Pittsburgh, the ISCA Student Advisory Committee now organizes a special student session on presentation skills at this year's Interspeech conference in Antwerp. You are cordially invited to join us in the Astrid Park Plaza hotel on Monday evening August 27, at 18:00.
The aim of this session is to help students further improve their presentation skills. Special attention will be paid to the preparation and the presentation of talks and posters at international conferences.
This session will cover:
- examples of good and bad presentations.
- tips for preparing and giving good oral and poster presentations
- specific advice for native and nonnative or less fluent speakers of English
- interactive Q&A part with the audience
This session will mainly consist of two presentations given by Prof. Mari Ostendorf [1] from the University of Washington and Prof. Roger K. Moore [2] from the University of Sheffield. After their presentations, the speakers will answer questions from the audience. Questions are preferably submitted beforehand through the below submission form [2] (submissions can be made anonymously) but, time permitting, they can also be asked at the end of the session.
Hoping to see you on August 27,
The ISCA Student Advisory Committee.
