Updating resources databaseSubmitted by murat on Sat, 2006-10-21 21:57.
To be able to update an information in the resources database (such as thesis, speech lab info, shareware, job listing, etc.), do we need to be a member of that group (e.g., company or institute who posts the job add) or the person who coded the shareware or wrote the thesis? Sometimes, I saw related links on the web, and I want to upload that information through this website although it is not related to me.

Updating resources database
Hi Murat,
you do not have to be a member of a group/company in order to submit information about or software from that group/company to our database. We want this website to be user-driven; we hope that our members will submit lots of useful information (about their own group/company and about other groups/companies) other users can benefit from.

I think the wording "If you'd like to see your freeware/shareware in this list, please fill out this form" can be confusing in this regard. Maybe it should be changed to something like "To add freeware/shareware to this list, please fill out this form". The Corpora section uses the wording "To add a new corpus to the list, please fill out this form." Good point David, I changed the wording on the freeware page for consistency. However, I now realise that my previous statement was open to more than one interpretation. I meant that everybody (not just the people from the lab software comes from), can upload pointers to the software (and other content throughout the other forms on the website). However, as a modest attempt to keep unwanted posts from our website, we require people to register before they upload any content to the website. Kind regards, Christophe |
